“Trapped” caught my attention because at first I thought it was a mesh of woven hands or legs which frightened me until I realized it was really just branches. However it still gives me an uneasy feeling because it really does give the appearance of limbs twisting into each other and being ‘trapped.’ It also reminds me of how the dead holocaust victims were piled together and some even frozen together like they were intertwined. The ominous dark hole underneath (?) the branches also gives me an uncomfortable feeling.

I like how this photo is cropped so that there is little distraction and a small amount of space so that there is a lot of focus on the interesting form of the branches. The contrast between the dark hole and the branches also helps in establishing a center of interest. I also love how there is a sense of movement with the branches that helps carry my eyes throughout the photograph.

The sepia tone created really helps in establishing an eerie mood and almost like an illusion where from a small scale, someone like me could mistake it for something else because the shapes seem to merge together from the similar tone. Everything is nice and in focus with part of the background blurred to minimize distractions. However improving the contrast in the photo would assist in defining the forms of the branches.
